Coinciding with the development of his paintings and paralleling their creation is another series of works based on pure appropriation of close-up sections of my own paintings. Self-appropriating has led to the Space Paintings: Black and white photographs digitally inverted by negation to render the original image new and fresh. The picture pattern that inadvertently was generated through this process cannot be mistaken for pictures of nebula, exploding stars, cosmic radiation, solar flares and other assorted iconic images we have all seen from the Hubble Space Telescope depicting an empirical view of our universe. What makes these photos unique is the fact that they are all created by painting, nothing more. Therefore, what we have is an earthbound human creative process mirroring the natural order of nature. PINK! Series is a tribute to the animal kingdom here on the third stone from the sun, and are appropriated from my own paintings. The Darwinian evolutionary trajectory from single celled creatures to human beings has taken millions of earth years to reach the present time. What makes these photos unique and one of a kind works of art is the fact that they are all created by first painting, then photographing the painting, then manipulating the colors, contrast, and gamma on a computer. The final result is printed on 17 x 22 inch photographic paper and complemented with an NFT.
